A pretty amazing foodie experience being presented with the famous edible Green Apple Balloon and actually meeting the legend behind its creation, Grant Achatz, chef & co-owner of the three Michelin star restaurant, Alinea in Chicago.
Grant firstly created a mozzarella balloon dish consisting of the balloon served with tomato, basil & extra virgin olive oil before moving on to the fun edible green apple floating balloon!
Alinea has this edible delight on their dessert menu. The balloon starts off with a green apple taffy base, which is then inflated using a tube connected to a helium tank. The result is a transparent balloon that is tied with a ‘string’ made of dehydrated granny smith apple.
