From 1873 to around 1990, this art deco Port Melbourne pub was known as the Southern Cross Hotel and after that time it became the Swallows Hotel. Their specialty is seafood and they do it well. We decided on an impromptu visit to Rubira’s as we really enjoyed our previous dining adventure there. Having said that, perhaps a Friday lunch was not an ideal choice as the place was absolutely packed, including a function upstairs. Needless to say, it was very noisy! Aside from that aspect, the food and service were fabulous.
