On a mission to find one of the best vanilla slices we ended up at quaint Monarch Cakes who have been in existence since 1934 though not always in its current location in Acland Street. According to their website ‘Many of the recipes originated from the original shop in Poland and were brought to Australia and have been used here ever since.’
Not having eaten many vanilla slices in the past we really didn’t have anything to compare it with however it was a good accompaniment with our coffee.
